Definition client Everatt & Company solicitors has succesfully defended the Ridgeway School in Wiltshire in a case which threatened serious implications for the education sector, prompting significant national interest. The case involved allegations that the school should be held responsible for the consequences of a fight which two pupils arranged to take place after school hours, at a secluded part of the school’s 32 acre site where they knew they were unlikley to be seen.
However, despite a trial lasting six weeks, involving 52 witnesses and costs running into millions of pounds, the Hon. Mr Justice Nicol found in favour of the school on all eight points on which liability had been argued.
