About Definition & Michael Taite
About Definition and Michael Taite
Established in 1997, Definition is a partnership owned by me and Gail Taite, who handles all financial and administrative matters.
I am also a trustee of the Environmental Law Foundation, a unique charity which provides access to environmental justice for individuals and community groups to whom it might otherwise be denied.
Prior to 1997, I worked with advertising agencies in London and Birmingham for three years and, prior to that, was, for five years, Head of Marketing and Sales for Regalian Properties PLC in Mayfair. Reporting, for much of that time, directly to Chief Executive David Goldstone, this role included responsibility for, at its peak, some thirteen large developments in Central London, the south coast, Salford and Washington, Tyne & Wear and included commercial, residential, retirement and marina properties.
My professional training is as a Chartered Company Secretary. A modular, MBA-style course, this encompassed 13 papers in, for example, business law and company law, corporate accounting, quantitative studies and organisational behaviour, but I have never practised as a company secretary.
I am also greatly indebted to Christian Schumacher of Work Structuring Limited, with whom I have been privileged to work on several projects and who has trained me in his unique, astonishingly powerful approach to organisational design, leadership functions and job design.
